The students of the ISIS Bassa Friulana involved in the PULCHRA project took part in the Summer School held from 14 to 18 of June 2021 in Cervignano del Friuli (Italy).
The 23 students of the ITT Malignani-ISIS institutes of the Lower Friuli did outdoor and laboratory activities working with researchers and being actively engaged, again after a long year carried out remotely. A multidisciplinary approach and international environment characterized the Summer School with the participation of the GLOBE Italia Association and the University of Udine.
After teaching break for summer holidays, Pulchra’s experimental activities were conducted in an intensive school program by integrating them with the Globe Italy and Australia experimentation project on microplastics, with an international and multidisciplinary vision.
Experts of the GLOBE Italia Association such as the prof. Coceano MP and Mocellin G., professors and the researchers from the University of Udine of DI4A Contin M., Sigura M. and Coco F. as part of the PULCHRA project shared this experience contributing during field activities.
Students monitored the environment at 360 degrees analysing waters, soils and vegetation and collecting the challenge of the scientific enhancement-fruition of some areas along the Ausa river (Pradulin Park), a place where Cervignano school boasts a long tradition of monitoring.
The innovative study on microplastics allowed the development of a new protocol, assessed thanks to the collaboration between Australian and Italian teams.
The analysed data will be presented to the municipal administration with the aim to build effective school-science-political interactions and leave students to inspire future conscious plans for the city and support Citizen science projects.
