On Tuesday, 14 December 2021, the “Lighting of the Christmas Tree” event took place in the park in front of T. G. Masaryk School.

As part of PULCHRA, the Elementary school T.G. Masaryka from Moravské Budějovice, Czech Republic has been working on the project Mission “New Park”. In their project, students aim to transform a park near their school to a place for relaxation, learning and community gatherings. The students presented their project to the public right in the park, where they organised a Christmas meeting.

Student reporter Táňa Dohnalová, a 9th grade student, made the following report:

Members of the school eco-club Tereza met with citizens of Moravské Budějovice, who came in large numbers. We presented the activities of the club, including our project Mission “New Park”, in which we want to turn the park into a place for relaxing and meeting. Older members of the club sang the Christmas song “Winter in the Forest”, younger children recited their poems and the school music group Rozinky played several Christmas carols. The members of the eco-club decorated the tree with, among other things, tallow balls made by the pupils of the second grade.
