On November 30th the PULCHRA project held a second all stakeholder workshop. The aim of the workshop was to provide an opportunity for schools to share their experiences with PULCHRA City Challenges and present their results. 100 participants representing 14 different countries attended the event.
Participants were interested to hear from keynote speaker, Alise Oļesika, from the UNESCO National Commission, Latvia followed by a session on Open Schooling and science grounded in students’ inquiry with presenters from the University of Athens and TEREZA Educational Centre. Participants learned how to use remote sensing tools to better understand urban sustainability challenges by Přemysl Štych and Josef Laštovička from Charles University, and heard about the PULCHRA app as a communication tool. Marie Drahoňovská, journalist and author of the PULCHRA Handbook of a Young Reporter, shared information on how to communicate on school-based activities, an invaluable session for the Science Reporters in the audience!
Participants listened to 13 inspirational school presentations with rich examples of how local stakeholders were engaged in solving city sustainability challenges across the EU.
The workshop also opened a field for discussion on opportunities and barriers of Open Schooling, engagement of stakeholders in school projects and provided an opportunity for international networking
