An Taisce, The National Trust Of Ireland is a NGO that works to preserve and protect Ireland’s natural and built heritage. The organisation provides an independent voice for sustainability, environmental and heritage issues. Founded in 1948, An Taisce is one of Ireland’s oldest and largest environmental organisations. We are a member of the International National Trusts Organisation (INTO) and the European Environmental Bureau (EEB), Europe’s largest federation of environmental organisations with over 140 members that gain their membership from the general public. The Environmental Education Unit (EEU) was established as part of An Taisce in 1993. An Taisce ’s EEU runs various other international and national programmes and campaigns, such as: the EPA sponsored international GLOBE programme – a science education programme for schools and communities, supported by NASA at international level.
